About Business & Commercial Insurance
- What is the difference between General Liability and Commercial Property Insurance? General Liability Insurance protects your business from claims of bodily injury or property damage caused by your business operations, products, or services. Commercial Property Insurance protects your physical assets, such as your building, inventory, equipment, and tools, from covered events like fire, theft, or vandalism.
- Is Workers' Compensation Insurance required in California? In California, with very few exceptions, all employers are required by law to carry Workers' Compensation Insurance, even if they have just one employee. This coverage pays for medical care and lost wages for employees injured on the job.
- What is a certificate of insurance? A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a document that provides proof of your insurance coverage. Your clients, landlords, or contractors may ask for a COI to verify that you have the required coverage before they will work with you. We can issue these for you quickly upon request.
- What does "E&O" or Professional Liability Insurance cover? Errors and Omissions (E&O) Insurance, also known as Professional Liability, protects your business from claims of negligence, errors, or omissions in the professional services you provide. This is especially important for businesses that offer advice or professional services, such as consultants, real estate agents, or IT professionals.
The Claims Process
- How do I file a claim? If you need to file a claim, please contact our office as soon as possible. We will guide you through the process and help you fill out the necessary paperwork to ensure a smooth and efficient experience. You can also contact your insurance carrier directly, and we can assist in monitoring the process for you.
- What information do I need to file a claim? To file a claim, you should have your policy number, a detailed description of the incident, the date and time it occurred, and any supporting documentation, such as photos or police reports.
- Will filing a claim raise my premiums? Filing a claim may affect your premium. However, the impact depends on several factors, including the type of claim, the amount of the loss, and your claims history. We are always here to help you understand your options and the potential implications of filing a claim.
